Brothers Grim

www.myspace.com/brothersgrim
Brothers Grim has been described as "Ashtray Music for Sinners who've earned the blues..." It is the Bastard Project for the Inabinet brothers (Matt and James of Hellbent Revelators) and draws from the music and themes of Delta greats such as Son House, Robert Johnson and Misissipi John Hurt - and mixes them with the misspent upbringings of Rock Excess and Murder Ballad sensibilities, delivered with the subtlety of a Nail driven into concrete or crooned like a wounded Animal to its Captor. The Brothers Grim is stripped back roots at its darkest.

Dan Edgecombe

Having danced blues for years to swing music, a whole new level of obsession began when Daniel was introduced to the concept of blues dancing to blues music. Since that day he has been collecting blues music from classic blues artists through to local Melbourne bands and more. So you can expect some music you've heard before, some you haven't and some you'll want to hear again.

Mike Healy

In the blue corner, stands Mike Healy, The Melbournian who's been dj-ing blues and swing constantly since 2007. Mike paints a great musical picture, crafting great dancefloor blues to keep the joint jumpin'. "My main goal is to get you to that place where the music takes over from popping moves and you start closing your eyes". Mixing a whole bag of blues from Delta, Chicago to Texas styles, his sets are always fun, cheeky and heartfelt. Be sure to catch Mike this time round.

Russell Turner

Russell has been DJing since 2003 across Australia and also overseas. His interests range from classic swing to soul to, of course, the blues. He spent time in 2009 exploring the roots of American music traveling from New York to St Louis to Memphis to New Orleans. This was a mind blowing experience listening to so much great live music. Blues highlights included Kim Massie in St Louis and BB King in Memphis as well as some fabulous gigs in New Orleans. Be prepared to have your blues horizons broadened.

Manon

Manon started DJing for lindy hoppers at CBD in Melbourne a few years ago, but soon the Blues bug bit and she's been a Blues tragic ever since.  Manon has DJed extensively at after parties and Blues nights in Melbourne, as well as at Blues Before Sunrise and Church City Blues in 2009. Manon loves to play all sorts of music from early trad swing/blues to contemporary soul - the only condition being that there's plenty of room for the dancer's personal interpretation.

Sam Carroll

Sam likes small men singing about big women, and big women singing about guns and knives and floods and snakes and drugs and sex and laughing and fighting…
Mostly salty, and very rarely sweet.

Tim Jones

Known to most as Canberra's seventh best blues DJ, Tim first came across the blues when he accidentally bought a blues CD while looking for swing music, and has been hooked ever since. Tim regularly plays down in the basement at The Blues Basement in Canberra, and also played at MLX and Canberrang last year. Tim most likes to play spacious, late night blues, but has a few up-tempo favourites too. .
